AST became Chain of Custody certified in August 2007 under the Australian Forest Certification Scheme (AFCS).

The Australian Forestry Standard (AFS) is the leading management standard of the AFCS, which certifies extensive areas of native forests and plantations.The AFS is a world class forestry standard which is endorsed by the world's biggest assessor of sustainable forest management the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

Chain of Custody certification allows for the tracking of our AST flooring products from certified forests to their end use by the consumer.

Chain of Custody certification demonstrates AST's leadership role in the Australian hardwood flooring industry being the first company in NSW and the first on the Australian mainland to be certified.

The independently third party audited Chain of Custody Standard provides consumers with the assurance that the forest and wood products they are purchasing are sourced from legally and sustainably managed forests, which are managed to the highest possible social,economic and environmental standards.

AST's quality hardwood timber flooring can now carry the certification mark which provides consumers, designers and specifiers with that Chain of Custody assurance.
This combined with our use of solar energy to power our timber drying kilns and use of salvage logs shows AST's commitment to the environment and sustainability and makes AST one of Australia's most environmentally sound timber companies - a fact of which we are very proud.
